We are proud to announce that SUNCHEM's self-developed ester hydrogenation catalyst and its application in 🏭producing 1,4-butanediol (BDO) from dimethyl succinate (DMS) have been granted a national invention patent (ZL202210662383.3) by the China National Intellectual Property Administration.

This achievement underscores our technological leadership in green catalytic processes🧪 and strengthens the core competitiveness of our product portfolio .

The CUCAT series catalyst, designed with unique carrier structures and active-site modulation, demonstrates breakthroughs in three 🗝️key areas:

1️⃣ Anti-powdering durability: maintaining >99% DMS conversion and >98% BDO selectivity over long-term operation;

2️⃣ Precise selectivity control: promoting the target reaction path (DMS→GBL→BDO) while suppressing byproducts like THF;

3️⃣ High efficiency: under mild conditions, enabling energy savings and lower operational costs.

This innovation supports the industrialization of BDO production via DMS hydrogenation, advancing downstream 🌲green industries such as biodegradable plastics (e.g., PBAT) and engineering plastics (e.g., PBT). Beyond BDO, the catalyst also shows potential in producing natural fatty alcohols, 1,6-hexanediol, and CHDM .
